Near the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount, as recorded in Matthew 5, Jesus describes the life of the Christian, the one who lives according for the kingdom of Heaven as salt and light.  But, followers of Christ are not to live their lives for their own glory, but in order that others might glorify God as a result of their lives.
